Paulino Montes-Solla is Assistant Professor of Applied Economics at the University of A Coruña where he has been teaching since 2019. He is also a senior researcher at the Jean Monnet Research Group on Competition and Regional Development in the European Union (GCD) where he has held the position of manager since 2007 to 2021. He has an established research record in Regional Economics, Regional Growth and Disparities, EU Regional Policy and EU Political Economy. He presented his research at numerous international conferences, and was a visiting researcher at prestigious research centers in European and American universities, such as the European Policies Research Center (EPRC) of the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow (2013), the Institute of Capital, Creativity and Innovation (IC²) of the University of Texas at Austin (2014), the Regional Economics Applications Laboratory (REAL) of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2018) or the Cañada Blanch Center of the London School of Economics (2022), among others. In addition to being a recipient of the IACOBUS grant for cooperation in research between Galicia and the North of Portugal, collaborating with Portuguese institutions such as the University of Porto (2015) and the University of Minho (2021). He acted as an associate consultant for several institutions, including DG Regio of the European Commission, the Galician Court of Defense of Competition (TGDC), the Basque Court of Defense of Competition (now AVC), the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) and the Council of A Coruña. His research work was recognized with a doctorate with international distinction (2015) and the extraordinary doctoral award in Economics of the University of A Coruña in 2017. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Economics (2011) and his Doctorate in Economics (2015) from the University of A Coruña.
