Resumen

The tutorial action is one of the key axes of education and directly affects its quality. Tutors of Secondary Education (ESO), have the important function of guiding and accompanying the students for a correct decision making in a fundamental stage for their integral development as people, in which they need guidance both academic, personal, as well as professional. Teachers' training and knowledge about tutorial action will be decisive for them to be able to offer these students tutoring and education with the best quality. It’s especially important in rural areas, because the environment has a big influence in people's whole life and students suffer the consequences in their academic lifes too. From this idea, we plan this research with the aim of learn and analyze about the formative competences of tutor teachers in northwestern Asturias and how they are adapted to that rural area and the characteristics of the students that live there. The results show how it is necessary to adapt this training that takes into account the environment in which the teachers are going to carry out their work as tutors, as well as a reconceptualization of tutoring that gives it the recognition it deserves.
