Resumo

This work analyzes the influence of spatial imagery ability, mental rotation ability, and gender, in the preference for different explanatory methods in Economics, and also in the difficulty perceived in them. An argument from the scope of Economics was explained to a group of 99 undergraduates of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of A Coruña through four methods: Literary, Flowcharts, Graphical, and Mathematical. In addition to obtain their assessment of preference and difficulty with these methods, the Measure of the Ability to Form Spatial Mental Imagery, and the Mental Rotation Test were applied to them. A greater difficulty was found with the Graphical method in students with low mental rotation ability and also in those with low spatial imagery ability.
