Abstract

In this paper, the teaching proposals on energy made by 40 groups of Primary Education teachers in training, aimed at hypothetical Primary School pupils, are analysed. The proposals were designed after studying the topic from a scientific and didactic point of view. The idea of what energy is and the different aspects concerning it, dealt with by each group, are analysed. The findings show that a vast majority of the students came up with fairly well-developed ideas of what energy is, in connection with situations close to them. Some of the features related to energy - such as types, transformation and/or transfer - are tackled in this context, as well as other aspects pertaining to its numerous uses and the issue of energy consumption. The participating groups promoting the most accurate scientific idea for Primary Education, associated with the ability systems have to make change occur, are the ones that place the greatest stress on describing it. Finally, each teaching proposal is discussed in terms of suitability and adequacy based on the outcome.
