Resumo

The adolescents’ learning in self-determination skills have a central place in current scientific literature, which has recourse to the Functional Model of Self-Determination (Wehmeyer, 1999, 2003) as a conceptual framework. In Spain, this model has been taken as a reference for the development of the ARC-INICO Scale (Verdugo et al., 2015), which aims to assess the adolescents’ level of self-determination. This study aims to verify the viability of this instrument in the Galician population, studying its psychometric properties with a sample of 2200 students. An Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) is carried out. The results offer an unsatisfactory structure, so it is forced the rotation to four factors that explains the 48.78% of the total variance. Subsequently, it is used Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), where Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) is included. Four different models were contrasted through an AFC (Asymptotic Free Distribution method) with whom it could be confirmed the better adjustment of the Functional Model in four components, obtaining good values of reliability (CR=.924; ω=.922) and validity (AVE = .348). It is confirmed the adequacy of the Functional Model of Wehmeyer (1999, 2003) to represent the self-determination of the Galician adolescents, measured by the ARCINICO scale.
