Abstract

By means of a philosophico-methodological approach of science, the present research addresses the Science of Education as an Applied Science of Design. There are two main objectives: 1) to clarify the epistemological and methodological status of Pedagogy, a task carried out from the perspective of the Sciences of the Artificial; and 2) to propose a new theoretical framework that, from the Sciences of Design, allows to resolve problems of professional practice in the educational environments. In order to analyse the scientific configuration of Pedagogy, the historical and theoretical context of the Science of Education, which allows us to appreciate the main conceptions about educational research proposed to date, is first taken into account. Then, the new approach which addresses the different aspects of Science is proposed. In addition, along with its dimension as Social Science, it expressly incorporates the aspect of Science of the Artificial. Subsequently, the consequences of the new approach, which deals with progress, goals and values in the Education as a Science of Design, are analysed Contributions made from the Theory of Education and the Philosophy of Education have also been taken into account in the philosophico-methodological analysis of the Science of Education
