Resumen

Introduction: The multidisciplinarity of health (physical, psychological, and emotional) is proven. Hence, in physical health, parenting styles (PS), physical activity (PA), motivation towards PA, and the intention to be physically active should be considered. Regarding psychological health, a relevant factor is physical self-concept. In emotional health, cognitive emotional regulation stands out. As the dimensions of health are connected, the objective of this thesis, by a compendium of articles, is to identify the role of parents and different cognitive and emotional variables on the physical, psychological, and emotional health of adults. Material and Methods: A qualitative study (systematic review) and two quantitative studies were carried out in which different self-report measures were administered and whose analysis consisted of a latent profile analysis and a cluster analysis. Results: Parental involvement positively influences motivation towards PA. PS offer diverse results. High physical self-concept enhances the intention to be physically active and emotional regulation strategies. Conclusions: Parents must get involved and adopt PS that help their children be active. Satisfaction with self-concept favors physical and emotional health.
