Sobre la participación ciudadana en el Estado social y democrático de Derecho

Abstract

The dimension of the notion of citizen participation is studied in the context of a social and democratic State of Law. Mainly the realtionship between participation and general interest is studied, as well as participation and the state of well-being; which leads to analysing participaation as an objective and as a method in the management of public affairs and in guaranteeing the general interest. It is concluded that true participation is at the same time cooperation, hence the protagonism of each individual must actually be observed as co-protagonism, which necessarily translates into the conjugation of two key concepts for the articulation of participatory public policies; autonomy and integration, on which the principle of subsidiarity is based, taking into account effectiveness and justice.
