Abstract
The collapse of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in 1940 initiated a strong effort in the field of aeroelasticity for bridge engineering. The time that has passed has allowed great advances in experimental and computational techniques in this scientific discipline and because of this, the phenomena that the wind produces in these structures are very well known, which has allowed a very important growth in the dimensions of suspension and cable-stayed bridges. The text briefly describes the state of the art, lists the most impo' tant aerodynamic phenomena and presents results of specific cases.
