Abstract

Introduction: As a consequence of the health crisis due to the SARS-CoV-2 or Covid-19 pandemic outbreak and the excessive demand for urgent care, many emergency and emergency professionals were exposed to bioethical challenges and psychological stress without being prepared for it. Objective: To know what ethical and emotional conflicts are perceived by emergency and emergency services health workers during the pandemic. Method: Literature review through the PubMed, Scopus WoS AND CUIDEN databases. Selection using inclusion criteria. Synthesis of results through theoretical reflection. Results: 9 articles were selected for in-depth review. The sample included the opinion of 406 professionals. Moral anguish, utilitarian justice, moral obligation and healthcare abandonment were identified as the main undesirable conflicts. Conclusions: Ethical conflicts and moral feelings had an impact on the work and mental health of professionals. The application of protocols and training in bioethics managed to reduce the consequences of this fact.
