La influencia de Inditex en las transformaciones de la estructura productiva, social y urbana de A Coruña

Abstract

The apparent social, productive and urban transformation that A Coruña has undergone in recent years is an example, among many others, of tertiarization and socioeconomic neoliberalization, in a context of hierarchization of cities around their productive specialization. Irremediably, Inditex appears as one of the key players in said transformation, given the obvious result of the impact that one of the largest companies in the world has its headquarters in the city, and that its main responsible and first fortunes of the country live in its urban center. So, this thesis is raised from a fundamental question: In which way influences the fact that the third largest company in Europe by capitalization has been founded and operates from a city of just over 240,000 inhabitants? This research will be carried out from a retrospective vision that will begin in the 60s, decade of foundation of that company, that over time would give rise to the textile multinational, and through the development of the production model that has taken it to its current global presence.
