Abstract

This thesis is a compilation of what has been studied and examined on stress and fatigue on ships, starting with the definition of some key concepts to understand the research, followed by the justification of this study where different topics are studied in depth (mentioning the corresponding regulations) to argue the questions of the subsequent field study. To this end, a survey is launched among the crew members of the three departments (bridge, engine and bunker) with different personal circumstances, who sail in different parts of the world and on different ships, in order to study in depth their experiences on board, mainly in relation to stress and fatigue. For this purpose, the data analysis programme SPSS is used to obtain graphs that help to make the presentation of the figures more attractive and eye-catching. The data collected is then considered in order to extract and detail the most salient data. Finally, a comparison is made between different items to obtain more in-depth conclusions.
