Abstract
The influence exerted by both parents on the habits of network consumption of their children may bedifferent. The objective of this research was to find out if there are differences in the consumption ofnetworks depending on the gender of the children and the perceived parental style of both parents. Anad hoc sociodemographic questionnaire and the Parental Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire (Child-PARQ/Control) were used. The MANOVA analysis revealed that the daughters who perceive maternalhostility/aggression and paternal love/affection consume sustainable networks. Conversely, high networkconsumption is promoted when daughters perceive maternal hostility/aggression and indifference/neglect and undifferentiated rejection from both mother and father. Although in a non-significant way, paternal control seems to facilitate a high consumption of networks in the sons. As a conclusion, thereare differences in the consumption of networks depending on the parental style perceived by the parentsdepending on the gender of the sons and daughters. Mothers and fathers must replace hostility/aggression, indifference/negligence, and undifferentiated rejection with affective behaviors to facilitateadequate consumption of networks.
