Abstract

In this doctoral thesis we study the Learning Ecologies of university professors of Social and Legal Sciences, analyzing the processes of training, updating and professional development that they have experienced, from formal, non-formal and informal opportunities of learning during their personal, academic and labor career. To this end, we have carried out an exploratory sequential mixed study that is developed in two phases: a qualitative one and a quantitative one. In the first phase, a Case Study is carried out through 2 semi-structured interviews for the definition and configuration of the Learning Ecologies of the 8 best university professors of Social and Legal Sciences of the Universidade da Coruña. Then, in the quantitative inquiry, a questionnaire is applied to 471 professors from Spanish universities. Finally, the fundamental objective of the study is achieved and it is established that, in general terms, university professors are a group very motivated towards their teaching work and towards research; that they are assiduously self-forming thanks to ICTs; they confer great importance to personal interactions; and they are interested in how to improve their pedagogical training for the performance of the teaching function.
