Resumen

The knowledge of four Alava Indian donors is deepened: Juan and Domingo de Ugarte, Juan de Ubao, José Mazcayano, Pedro Ruiz de Mazmela and Francisco Antonio de Alday. Through two important avenues: following their trajectory from their departure from the place of origin, places where they settled, professions and positions held, social ascent, until they reached a fortune that provided them to send rich legacies and the works that we retain today, some brought personally and other arrivals by testamentary orders. The archival documents and the pieces themselves with their marks and inscriptions are the main sources on which we focus this research. Of the archival documents we highlight two types of which, in this area, there was hardly any record: the Letter received, made before the Royal Notary of Aramaiona, sent to the executor of the Indian José Macayano for the legacy received in good condition; and the letter that Juan de Ugarte sends from Mexico, asking his relatives to meet him and authorize them to pass to the Indies. Of the preserved pieces, we carry out their study, some have only been mentioned or with a brief review
