Resumo

In this paper we analyze several aspects of baptismal ceremonies in the city of Lugo in the XVIIth-XIXth centuries, as they meant a way for social publicity for local noble families. Just as other ceremonies, although with a more intimate character, the baptism of a child was a fantastic opportunity to show the power of the family both economically and socially. Therefore, without forgetting the value of personal part, we focus on the contextual aspects, such as the chosen date and the place of the ceremony.
