Resumen

Desde una perspectiva histórica, el concepto de fiabilidad y seguridad informática a principios de la década de 1970, cuando los procesos de transferencia electrónica de datos estaban en sus primeras etapas, permite observar un cambio de paradigma sobre dichos aspectos en la banca. Los equipos y los programas, considerados como activos informáticos, cobran mayor importancia frente al tradicional concepto de seguridad ligado al dinero depositado o a la identificación de los clientes en la oficina bancaria. El estudio de estos cambios en los casos de Japón, España y Alemania, en relación con el despliegue de sus primeras redes interbancarias, junto al papel de los estándares bancarios en dichos procesos, ofrecen un interesante campo de análisis. En este marco, las consideraciones sobre fiabilidad y seguridad de los procesos constituyen factores clave en una nueva conceptualización de la actividad financiera, dentro de los procesos de desmaterialización de los activos que están afectando al negocio bancario en las últimas décadas.
