Abstract

The management of healthcare in Germany is of great comparative interest, from the point of view of Spanish Social Security Law. This is partly due to the sheer financial size of this specific German contributory social insurance, which is five times the size of the Spanish healthcare budget. It is also because the 109 managing entities of this German social insurance (legally called "sickness funds") present interesting similarities in their instrumental management performance not only with our insurance agencies working with social security, but also with the General Treasury of Social Security.
