Abstract
The work and life of Rodolfo García-Pablos has been scarcely reviewed by critics. First hand access to his personal archive revealed an extraordinarily methodical architect, of strong character and robust personal convictions. If, as we suspected, religious architecture was the main focus of his career, a careful assessment of the commissions he received during his years working for the state administration and in various positions of ecclesiastical res-ponsibility as a diocesan architect, have only confirmed it. The answers to initial questions born out of intuition show the results of García-Pablos’s career to be a continuous tropism toward modernity, in which religious architecture proved to be a powerful catalyst.
