Abstract
The aging of the Galician population is a reality. Anxiety and depression are a very common affective disorders in this population group and decrease the perceived quality of life. Therefore, they are important factors to consider when we make psychotherapeutic interventions. The aim of this study is to screen the behavioral-emotional state of people over 60 years in La Coruña, and relate the global deterioration with the anxiety and depression and the possible behavioral disorders. In the results we find a clear relationship between the scores of the NPI and the GDS and between the Goldberg anxiety subscale with the GDS. These relationships did not appear between the Goldberg depression subscale and the global deterioration scale. We can see that the global deterioration is closely linked with anxiety and disruptive behavior in aged people, but we need more research to understand why there are less depressiv e symptoms when the subject has more global deterioration.
