Resumen

From the point of view of the legal mark of the Brazilian educational system, the education embraces forming processes that are developed in family life, in human co-habit, at work, at institutions of teaching and research, in social movements and organizations of the civil society and in cultural manifestations (Art. 1ª LDB/1996). This work is part of a wider investigation accomplished with the support of the Project process 401.468/2009-7- CNPq/UFAM, with the objective of analyzing representations of students from UFAM and UFGD about the orientation role of the university and teachers. The research was based on a sample of 1.347 students from several courses of the Federal University of Amazonas and Mato Grosso do Sul that answered three proper instruments of psychopedagogical evaluation detailed in this text. The results show different needs of orientation as well as its effects on academic performance P < 0,000. It is concluded for the validity of the instruments that present characteristics that qualifies them for the evaluation of the oriented function of both the university and the teacher pointing to the accomplishment of the longitudinal researches in this field and of new investigations that it can contribute for the creation of public policies for the improvement of orientation in higher education.
