Abstract

Documents and historic investigation shows two different aspects in the physical therapy of XIX and XX centuries. One aspect means the use of physical agents (from a conceptual point of view) and the other one means the antecedent of institutionalized physical therapists. The first aspect is shown, since XIX century, in institutions, publications and the participation of physical therapists in scientific events; the second one is shown as a quite figure because the no identity of his clinic work and its late establishment as a physical therapist.
