Sustainable development goals

Abstract

Parkinson is a common pathology in the elderly. This is related to 1% people over 65 years old, and to the 2% people over 85 years old or more. There must be about 70,000 sick people. The incidence is 16/100,000 people. We present in this article, a proposal of a physical therapy's protocol for parkinsonism patients. A bibliographical review has been done for the development of the protocol. Furthermore the information for five years experience in two geriatric centers has been used. The centers are Residencia Asistida de la Tercera Edad de Oleiros and Residencia de la Tercera Edad Torrente Ballester in A Coruña. The article beguins with an introduction, showing the physiopathology ant the clinical evolution of the illness. Afterwards these two aspects are interrelated and also are relationated with the objectives that are pursued by the Physiotherapy. Finally the Physiotherapy treatment that has been used to cover each objective is presented.
