Abstract
In order to analyze the use of manual therapy of the spine by pseudoprofessionals, a study was made in gymnasiums because the authors thought that this activity would be common in athletic circles. A survey was made of six gymnasiums of the city of A Coruña (Spain), in a sample of 158 persons, mostly men who did muscle-building. After analyzing the results, we concluded that manual therapy was used fairly often in gymnasiums (42% of cases) and usually was carried out by a companion or monitor. We see this as a potential area of work for physical therapists.
