Resumo
This work shows the results related to the ethnolinguistic identity (linguistic and cultural) as well as the subjective ethnolinguistic vitality (exocentric and egocentric beliefs) of the bilingual Autonomous Communities of Spain. They are two theoretical perspectives, interdependently studied, and have a wide tradition in the psycho-socio-linguistic literature of the intergroupal relations in a situation of contact of languages. First, we present a typology of ethnolinguistic identity made up mainly of six types of identity. Then, we show the distribution of the different types of ethnolinguistic identity related both to exocentric/egocentric beliefs and complete sample and sub-samples of each bilingual Autonomous Community. With a view to obtaining the characteristic dimensions of evaluative response of subjects, as well the importance that they attribute to each dimension, data were analyzed by means of INDSCAL procedure (Carroll & Chang, 1970). Results are discussed in the framework of the social identity and ethnolinguistic identity theories.
