Resumen
The article analyses the importance of mechanical environmental prevention in delinquency by giving a previous theoretical vision of both the criminal fact and its possible solutions. Then it considers prevention through environmental design, pointing out as main points the sociobiological approach, the particular aspects of deviant behaviour, the concept of �defensible space�, the geography of crime, the cognitive maps and the criminal behaviour, the environmental design of prisons and a possible integration model.
