Resumo

The community fisheries policy is the last of the common policies, it comes with a clear delay and it consists of different componenbts which are the result of the international incidents caused by the extension of the economic exclusion zone to the 200 miles bythe coastal states. It is built upon four main points: policies of resources, structures, markets and foreing policy. Throughout its evolution, there seems clear evidence of distortions between both sectiosn. Similary, the enforcement of such measures causes inconsistencies and logical nonsense between what is recommended and the objectives to be attained. Nowadays, the discussion is centred on how to resolve the possibility of adopting a reponsible, efficientand sustainable exploitation of resources, with the establishment of codes of conduct for responsible fishing which could avoid overexploitacion, the great amount of catches of non-target species and the adverseimpact on the economy of coastal communities.
