Resumen
NW Iberia coastal evolution is not well-known during the Quaternary due to the lack of sedimentary data. This paper is a characterization of dune systems, present and fossil (eolianites) during the last 300 ka. The eolian sediments show the most widespread distribution and continuous sedimentary record in the NW Iberian coast. It is observed a clear zonation of these eolian deposits that are distributed by age in older in the Spanish coast and more modern in the Portuguese coast. Based on these differences, some authors refer to the existence of neotectonic movements in the NW Iberian coast. However, these differences may be justified by the different topography of the coast, mainly cliff-like in the north and low coast of primary eolian accretion in the south.
