Resumen
The development of the communicative competence and the promotion of plurilingualism have become two of the main elements in the design of Spain´s linguistic policies in Education. In this article, we review the educational legal frameworks in Spain in reference to the learning outcomes in Foreign Languages, which follow the guidelines provided by the Common European Framework. We also contemplate all the different programmes created to promote and improve communicative language competence of our students. Finally, we consider Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) as an effective tool to achieve these aims.
