Resumo

IBSO, the complex relational database on inventories and libraries of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries created by the SIELAE group, gathers and makes available to researchers the result of several types of jobs usually scattered, in open access via the Internet. This application allows to answer many of the questions and needs of researchers on European culture of the modern age, as well as who produce works of philological edition of Golden Age books, the history of reading, the use of sources, the history of printing, the knowledge transmission or the history of a publication. It achieves this result by crossing the information introduced into its four sections: Inventories, Works and editions of Spanish Golden Age authors, Hypothetical libraries and Ideal libraries. This work provides information on the purpose and search possibilities of IBSO. Besides, the work details the tasks that have been carried out for the database creation (from conceptual design to feeding), shows the Entity-Relationship model of this database, describes the difficulties and problems founded while developing the database and while proceeding to record the data, and explains the solutions we have reached.
