A idade relativa nos jogadores de andebol em Portugal

Resumen
O Efeito da Idade Relativa tem sido um tema de estudo como elemento diferenciador no desenvolvimento de desportistas. Este estudo teve como objetivos determinar se jogadores de andebol têm mais possibilidades de chegar ao alto rendimento, segundo o mês e o ano de nascimento e comprovar estas possibilidades em função do género dos atletas. Selecionaram-se 13630 jogadores de andebol que representavam a totalidade de jogadores de Portugal. Analisaram-se as variáveis relativas ao sexo, competição, internacionalidade e data de nascimento. Verificou-se se o ano de nascimento era par ou ímpar e a variável trimestre de nascimento. Para determinar o efeito da idade relativa utilizou-se a prova do qui-quadrado. Para valorar a vantagem de nascimento em ano par verificaram-se as diferenças de proporção de nascimentos em ano par e ímpar mediante prova binominal. Encontrou-se um efeito de idade relativa significativo. Não se encontra na 1ª divisão, mas sim em escalões de formação. O efeito observa-se tanto a nível de jogadores selecionados para as equipas nacionais em categorias inferiores como entre os jogadores não internacionais e não se verificou nos internacionais absolutos. De forma geral não se encontrou uma tendência de haver mais jogadores nascidos em ano par do que em ano ímpar.
