Abstract
The new recommendations published by the European Resuscitation Council provide new evidence and the update of the guidelines of vital support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation . The recommendations have not been produced big changes in basic life support and basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The sequence of cardiopulmonary resuscitation for training rescuer, the first steps of the sequence have been simplified, joining up them to minimize the response time from the identification to the activation time of the emergency medical services and the effective shock in case it is necessary. To increase survival, it is necessary to improve the rates of cardiopulmonary resuscitation by bystander, to increase the availability of automated external defibrillation and to perform early and quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation. To increase the number of bystanders who initiate cardiopulmonary resuscitation, emergency medical dispatcher are encouraged to promote telephone cardiopulmonary resuscitation. They must be trained in cardiac arrest identification, to locate the bystander, and look for nearby automated external defibrillation. The Training in skills and knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation should be initiated in schools, adapting the methodology and duration to the characteristics of the population
