Abstract

«The weekly rest is a right that the worker has gained over the time, and coincides with the day enshrined by the traditions or customs of each country. In Spain it is established as one day and a half uninterrupted, comprising Saturday afternoon or Monday morning and Sunday as a full day. A Sunday that is widespread in Christian majority countries, but not all the minority religious observe this day. Muslims prefer to enjoy it on Friday to go to the mosque to pay, and both Adventist Jews and Protestants have prescribed by their religion to observe the Sabbath as a sacred day. It is labor relations when the problems arise in order to enjoy this institution, just as with the different holidays of each religion. A study of its origin and jurisprudence make us to see the reality of the problem, especially when the right of the religious freedom of the worker collided head-on with the business organization sphere. Possible solutions are analyzed so that members of religious minorities can observe their religious beliefs in reference to weekly breaks and their respective holidays».
