Abstract

To guarantee the safety of electrical systems when the design is being realized, it is essential to ensure that the electric field strength will not go beyond the permitted values. For this, it is necessary to calculate and later on to analyse, the electric field distribution, for which, and since an analytical solution of the general problem is not feasible, there is no other alternative but to analyse the field distributions produced in different instants of time, which demands a considerable computational effort, given the calculation programmes available at present. In this thesis, a method has been developed which permits realizing this study for a set of instants - which can be as numerous as it is wished - with an effort slightly superior to that needed for the resolution of a single instant. The method developed consists in the resolution of field problems by means of linear combinations of a set of elementary solutions, the number of which is always small since it is equal to the number of different potentials of electrode present in the configuration. This method has been effectively applied to a set of three-phase configurations which is usual in high voltage technology, besides allowing the establishment of rules that facilitate a reliable design of the studied configurations.
