El léxico del caballo en el Río de la Plata del siglo XIX y principios del XX. Una aportación al léxico hispánico

Abstract

This work adresses the study of the lexicón concerning the horse in the rioplatense linguistic area –with particular attention to de area of the present-day Republic of Uruguay- throughout nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. From a selection of literary works within the historical period and geographic scope indicated, characterized by the use in them of a language which approximates that used by the Rioplatense peasants – Gauchesco language-, or by the appearance of lexicon related to the reality of the horse, the study of the different voices corresponding to the pointed semantic field is carried out, taking into account its origin, evolution, its appearance in the different lexicographic works consulted, both general and specific in the studied area, the geographical scope of use and those literary testimonies which verify their use
