Abstract

The number of sport centres, members of such centres and companies that manage them have grown significantly over the last 10 years. However, these centres register a high rate of dropouts, which becomes one of their main problems. Moreover, several studies suggest that a certain percentage of these dropouts involves a complete abandonment of physical activity, with all the consequences that it implies from a community point of view. Literature clearly identifies loyalty as an effective tool to prevent dropouts. In addition, a great number of studies analyse the relation between loyalty and other concepts such as perceived quality, satisfaction or recommendations as key aspects to guarantee members continuity. Nevertheless, the majority of these studies use questionnaires to measure it. In this study, we intend to analyse if behavioural variables, commonly recorded in the management software of sports centres, can predict the probability of dropping out in these centres. In the same way, we will evaluate the effectiveness of the model in different samples of the same sport centre and will assess whether every centre needs its own predictive model.
