Abstract
Aims: the different foot types according to the arch height are related to different lower limb conditions, and it could affect the individuals quality of life. The purpose of the doctoral thesis is to know the impact that the arch height has on the quality of life related to foot health in adults and on the dimensions that determine the health status of the foot (pain, foot function, footwear, foot health) and the general health of the individual (general health, vitality, social function, physical activity). Methods: a cross-sectional study was carried out. The participants foot type (n=138) was classified according the Arch Index (AI): 51 had a normal AI, 66 had a decreased AI and 21 had a increased AI. The quality of life in relation to foot health was valued with the Spanish version of the Foot Health Status Questionnaire (FHSQ). The results of the sample groups were compared using the t test, the ANOVA test and the MANOVA test. Results: the comparison of the overall results of the FHSQ among adults with an IA normal, increased or decreased, did not show statistically significant differences. At the specific level of the foot we found a statistically significant difference (p=0,017) in the footwear dimension between people with AI augmented and people with AI decreased. Conclusions: foot type according to arch height does not influence the quality of life related to foot health in adults.
